It's Friday afternoon 3pm... I'm in front of my French class who is exhausted from a full week of learning the passé composé. I still have 1 hour before the end of the day and I know that, while it's not time to introduce a new topic, my students might just have enough energy left for a quick game.
I start drawing some squares on the board and divide my students in 2 teams. A few minutes later, we are in the middle of a heated game of home-made battleship and they are racing to discover all the hidden boats on my whiteboard. As they conjugate different verbs, I pull colored markers to draw some ''water'' and ''explosions'' and make canon and splash noises with my mouth. Everyone is enjoying the game but all I can think of is that I wish we had a ''real'' game with ''real'' noises and images to play all together. Wouldn't that be so much more fun... and easier?
This is where Blended Play started.
As a language teacher, I found myself endlessly searching for interactive content to make my teaching more engaging. Yes, I could use some so called ''games hand-outs'' but, let's be honest, they are pretty lame. And if I could avoid another bingo worksheet I would try my very best to do so!
From there, I decided to create a platform allowing teachers of all subjects to have some fun in their class with animated games. The idea of Blended Play is to mix your content with our fun games to deliver a unique experience to your students... while also making your life easier if possible!
The addition of the game library to this site represents what I already know exists in the real world. The sense of ''community'' that exists amongst teachers. It is truly unique to our profession and having a place to exchange and discuss is crucial.
I hope that you will enjoy these games as much as I do and from a teacher to another, thank you for working so hard to make your students' experience valuable and unique.
Sincerely,
- Andréanne King
